The middle and high school levels of BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi have recently received an ‘A’ in the SPK Accreditation, and we are thrilled to announce this achievement. This accreditation serves as evidence of our consistent and unwavering commitment to achieving and maintaining excellent education. Our school is incredibly proud of this accomplishment, and we are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our teachers, staff, and parents. Their cooperation and support have been essential in helping us foster and empower society. At BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, we understand the value of education in shaping the future of our society. It is not just about imparting knowledge and skills, but also about instilling values and character traits that will help our students develop exemplary character, innovative learning, and compassionate leadership. Our commitment to providing quality education is not a recent development. Over the years, we have continued to improve our approach to teaching, learning, and student development. Students from BINUS SCHOOL Simprug have showcased their talents by competing against peers from around the world in a highly regarded international competition. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, as they have successfully qualified for the TeenEagle Online International English Language Competition 2023 Global Finals, which will be held in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Italy. This accomplishment is proof of their abilities and the quality of education they receive at BINUS SCHOOL Education. The TeenEagle competition offers three categories for students born in 2005 or later. This competition is accredited and certified by Brooke House College, one of the top colleges in the United Kingdom. Participating in international competitions provides BINUSIAN with valuable experiences they cannot get in the classroom. In conclusion, the achievement of these BINUSIAN students in the TeenEagle International English Language Competition is a significant milestone for them and BINUS SCHOOL Education. We hope this achievement will inspire future students to participate in international competitions and broaden their perspectives beyond the classroom. Congratulations to all participants! After five intensive workshop days, The Harvard Crimson Scholars Program has officially ended. This program is a collaboration between BINUS SCHOOL Education and Learn with Leaders, aimed at developing future leaders. Attended by 33 BINUSIANS from Simprug, Serpong, and Bekasi, these BINUSIANS have shown extreme enthusiasm in the series of workshop sessions mentored by not one, but for Harvard University college students! The Principal of Middle and High School BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, Ms. Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales, hopes all students who participated in this program enjoyed all the activities and got to bring something beneficial for their future. “I hope everyone had so much fun, and I hope you also learned something during these five days that you can take back to your school. Hopefully, there will be a next one soon,” Ms. Sherrie said. For five days, students were asked to participate in various activities to sharpen their leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills through their choice of societal problem in a group setting. On the last day of the program, BINUSIANS were given the opportunity to present their ideas on global issues and potential solutions, which helped to improve their analytical and public speaking skills. One of the participants in the Harvard Crimson Scholars Program from BINUS SCHOOL Bekasi, Jacqueline, said she had a great time participating in all the activities, from workshops and debates to essay writing training. “I got a lot of new information and insight, which is very beneficial for the future. I also received training in public speaking and debate, these were so fun and interesting! On top of that, we received special training on how to write college entrance essays and personal guidance from Harvard mentors. What could be better than these, right?!” Jacqueline said.

BINUS SCHOOL Education continues to innovate in its teaching methods to provide new learning experiences, particularly in developing communication skills, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Recently, BINUS SCHOOL Education, through its BINUS SCHOOL Serpong campus, is hosting the Harvard Crimson Scholars Program, partnering with Learn with Leaders, focused on leadership, communication, and solution generation in five days (16 Jan-20 Jan 2023). 33 BINUS SCHOOL Education students from Simprug, Serpong, and Bekasi are taking part in a program featuring a variety of activities such as workshops, discussions, and debates, all under the guidance of students from Harvard University. In his opening speech, Mr. Michael Wijaya Hadipoespito, the President of BINUS SCHOOL Education, said that this program is being conducted to provide students with the skills they need to become future leaders who will have a positive impact on society. “I hope this can be the foundation for them to become future leaders, where they will be able to contribute a lot to society in the future,” Mr. Michael said. Michael also added that the mentors from Harvard University can also serve as connections for the students to have global connections, specifically with Harvard University. Ms. Sherrierose Garcia Gonzales, the Principal of Middle and High School BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, stated that the students will be given global issues to study and work on solutions together. “It’s a program that combines academic, social, and emotional learning, so the kids become stronger and more open-minded when they finish the program,” Ms. Sherrie added.

They were asked to come up with an Undergraduate Campaign Strapline that will appeal to 17/18-years-olds across the world to apply to University of Sussex, UK. Congratulations to Chiara Amanda Santoso, Danniella Jasmine Soetandi and Raeya Rajiv Savur for their achievement at the International Conference of Aerospace Medicine, ICAM22 at Paris, France. Their excellent research and awesome presentation was appreciated and applauded by the distinguished scientists, professors and researchers present at ICAM22. Over the past few months they were actively involved in extracting acoustic parameters from voice samples using PRAAT software and then statistically analyzing (SA) them using IBM SPSS software under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Savita Sondhi. All three students equally contributed as well as prepared for oral presentation at ICAM22. Thanks to our teachers Dr. Savita Sondhi (MYP Mathematics Teacher, BINUS SCHOOL Simprug) and Dr. Rinda Hedwig (Research Interest Group Leader, Kampus Anggrek) for keeping the enthusiasm and always being focused on creating innovative research studies for the well-being of the society. “It was an unexpected opportunity that came from Ms. Savita and nurtured into something much more than a school project. Being in Paris and interacting with prominent members of the scientific community was probably the most rewarding and fruitful part of this entire experience, and we were all very grateful to have done it together”, students said. To attend – International Conference of Aerospace Medicine / ICAM 2022 Our research study titled, “Effect of Physical Exhaustion on Basic Parameters of Voice “, has been accepted for oral presentation at the first International Conference of Aerospace Medicine, ICAM22 at Paris, France. This conference will be held under the auspices and joint sponsorships of: The Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) The International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine (IAASM) The European Society of Aerospace Medicine (ESAM) The Société Francophone de Médecine Aérospatiale (SOFRAMAS) ICAM 2022 will be the first international conference to bring together all the civilian and military specialists involved in Aerospace Medicine, Airlines Medical Doctors, Repatriation, and Occupational Health. We, Binusians, are going to present our research findings related to the above study before the scientific community. What’s students’ achievement? Chiara, Danniella and Raeya have been working very enthusiastically with Dr Savita Sondhi since past 10 months on two research studies. One is the current study, findings of which we will present during ICAM22 at Paris. The other one is titled, “Comparison of Acoustic parameters in various Obstructive Airway Diseases” which is under progress. Over these months they were actively involved in extracting acoustic parameters from voice samples using PRAAT software and then statistically analyzing (SA) them using IBM SPSS software. Contribution of Chiara: After extracting the voice parameters, Chiara expressed her interest to perform statistical analysis herself. So, I guided her with the steps of entering data into SPSS and executing the results. Due to pandemic, we discussed on Zoom and MS Teams, and she was super quick to learn all steps and wanted to explore further. She also took the initiative to educate Danniella and Raeya with the procedure to perform statistical analysis using SPSS. Currently, all three students are equally contributing and preparing power point slides for oral presentation during ICAM22. They will be the first high school students from BINUS group to be presenting their research findings at an international conference of this caliber. It is very rewarding as a teacher to see how they collaborate, teach one another, and consistently deliver high quality results within few hours of assigning. They are focused, determined, and are leaving no stone unturned to represent BINUS at ICAM22. Any other plans in the future according to this achievement? Aim is to represent BINUS group at the global platform of research and development. Since research is the foundation for growth of every nation, with this achievement, young Binusians will be inspired and fostered to participate in real time research. They will be empowered to explore their potentials and broaden their horizon, thus contributing to the greater good of the society.

So glad to be learning about nature in our own school. Our students and teachers are trying their best to fulfill Sustainable Development Goals #2 on Zero Hunger and #3 on Good Health & Well Being by planting and harvesting Hydroponic plants. This is just the start, we have great plans on fulfilling these goals! Shout-out to our Building Management Manager Mr. Abdul Khalim and his team for jumpstarting this project with us!

The Investiture of Student Leaders is a ceremony held by BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, every year to introduce to the student body the Student Council, Club Presidents and Class Captains who will lead, set an example, and inspire their fellow members and peers with their commitment, confidence and capability.
