The new Director of BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, Gerald Donovan says that the era of memorising facts and figures is behind us, and BINUS SCHOOL Serpong is preparing all the students for a world where they will need to continuously learn, adapt, and innovate.
With over 30 AI tutors integrated into the learning environment, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong is pioneering personalised learning, allowing each student to learn at their own pace. Donovan highlights the transformative potential of AI in education.
“In traditional classrooms, teaching often targeted the middle of the class—some students were bored, others overwhelmed. AI helps us challenge each student just beyond their current ability, fostering real growth and engagement,” said Donovan.
Combining Academic and AI
Donovan recognises that the pathways to success have shifted dramatically with the rise of AI and automation. such as medicine, engineering, and business—some of the careers traditionally seen as stable—are among the most likely to be impacted by AI.
“At BINUS SCHOOL Serpong, we’re preparing students for the unknown future by teaching them to think critically, collaborate, and embrace lifelong learning,” said Donovan.
This semester, BINUS SCHOOL Serpong is rolling out a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students in Grade 4 and above, with a long-term vision of integrating technology into every classroom. The school has also invested heavily in teacher training and infrastructure to ensure a smooth transition and maximum impact.

“At school, we often have exciting new experiences, such as using AI technology to assist in the classroom. Although technology plays a significant role in our learning, fundamental values such as respect, perseverance, and integrity are still instilled in us,” said Meghan.
Student Well-Being Programme
In addition to technology, student well-being is a key focus of the Student Well-Being Programme. The Student Well-Being Programme focuses on supporting students emotionally, socially, and academically. It provides a system of tiered support to help manage behavioral issues and create a positive school environment where students can thrive in all areas of life.
A key part of the program is the tiered behavioral management system, which offers different levels of support based on individual student needs. This helps students develop positive behaviors and life skills like time management, emotional control, and communication through personal management workshops.
Aligned with the Cambridge Primary Well-Being Curriculum Framework, the program also teaches life skills to help students handle everyday challenges. Overall, it aims to ensure that students grow both academically and personally, building resilience and social skills for a balanced and thriving future.
