Inovasi Siswa Kelas 8 BINUS SCHOOL Simprug Bentuk Kepedulian Terhadap Ekosistem Laut Jakarta, ID: Yayasan BINA NUSANTARA yang telah berdedikasi selama lebih dari 41 tahun di dunia Pendidikan terbukti dengan salah satu pengembangan Sekolah BINUS yang saat ini telah tersebar di 4 kota,besar yaitu Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi dan Semarang berkomitmen dalam membina dan memberdayakan masyarakat serta membangun nusantara yang lebih baik. Komitmen ini diimplementasikan ke seluruh jajaran, termasuk pengajar dan murid-murid di sekolah. Salah satu contoh program yang digunakan untuk mendorong siswa-siswi BINUS SCHOOL dalam peningkatan kualitas kehidupan dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya adalah melalui program SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) yang secara berkesinambungan di sosialisasikan sejak dini dari kelas 2 SD hingga ke jenjang SMA di BINUS SCHOOL Simprug. “ Kami sebagai institusi pendidikan tidak hanya memfokuskan di bidang akademik saja, namun hal terpenting yang harus ditautkan ke para siswa-siswi kami adalah bagaimana caranya untuk memaksimalkan diri melalui potensi dan karakter yang sudah dimiliki agar dapat berguna bagi sesama serta lingkungan di sekitarnya. Semangat Fostering & Empowering kami sebagai komunitas BINUS SCHOOL terarah pada pengembangan siswa dengan tujuan utama membangun karakter teladan, mendukung pembelajaran yang inovatif serta membina kepemimpinan yang penuh kasih. Dengan demikian, kami juga menawarkan pengembangan individu berwawasan lokal dan internasional yang menunjukkan keteguhan dan ketekunan di era globalisasi yang semakin penuh tantangan.”  hal ini disampaikan oleh Bapak Michael Wijaya Hadipoespito, Presiden dari BINUS SCHOOL Education. Dari salah satu 17 tujuan utama SDG, yang cukup konsisten menjadi gagasan di BINUS SCHOOL Simprug adalah tujuan no.14 yaitu Ekosistem Lautan. Berangkat dari kesadaran tentang pentingnya menjaga ekosistem laut dan keminatan di bidang teknologi, murid BINUS SCHOOL Simprug bernama Evan Felix Santoso berhasil memenangkan kompetisi Imagine Cup Junior 2022 yang diselenggarakan oleh Microsoft Indonesia. Bersama-sama dengan ribuan remaja lainnya dari berbagai belahan dunia, Evan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (artificial intelligence/AI) menjadikannya satu-satunya wakil Indonesia di antara 10 pemenang kompetisi tersebut dengan membawa konsep Sea Waste Scavengers, menyisihkan ribuan remaja lainnya dari seluruh dunia. Melihat potensi yang dimiliki oleh muridnya, Bapak Nikhil Loyola Dsouza, seorang guru science di BINUS SCHOOL Simprug telah berhasil mendorong dan membimbing Evan untuk mengikuti kompetisi ini dari awal hingga akhir. “Saya sebagai guru telah melihat potensi yang dimiliki Evan, sehingga saya tergerak untuk mendorong Evan untuk mengikuti kompetisi ICJ. Saya merasa bangga dan optimis bahwa Evan dapat mengembangkan konsep Sea Waste Scavengers ini serta menjadi salah satu yang terbaik di dalam kompetisi ICJ. karena gagasan seperti ini mampu memecahkan tantangan di abad ke-21 dan juga dapat diterapkan di banyak negara di seluruh dunia. Saya berharap prestasi Evan dapat menjadi inspirasi bagi banyak generasi muda diluar sana untuk lebih peduli terhadap lingkungan di sekitanya. “ ungkap Bapak Nikhil Loyola Dsouza selaku guru science di BINUS SCHOOL Simprug. Evan menuturkan “Pak Nikhil lah yang menyarankan kompetisi ini, setelah sedikit berpikir dan memberi semangat, lalu saya pun bergabung dengan ICJ. Sejak saat itu, Pak Nikhil memimpin pelatihan untuk ICJ dan mengajari kami tentang aturan, mekanik, dan bagaimana membuat presentasi yang efektif dan solusi kreatif. Teknologi AI ini saya implementasikan di kapal listrik bertenaga air dan surya guna melacak, menemukan serta mengambil sampah plastic yang ada di lautan. Saya harap inovasi ini mampu menginsiprasi generasi muda lainnya untuk memiliki kepekaan terhadap pencemaran laut, sehingga kehidupan laut kita menjadi terjaga kebersihan dan keindahannya.” Bapak Isaac Koh, Kepala Sekolah BINUS SCHOOL Simprug juga menambahkan, prestasi Evan melalui kompetisi ini merupakan salah satu bentuk komitmen sekolah dalam menerapkan shared values dan personal excellence. Yang dimaksud disini adalah bagaimana diri kita menularkan ilmu pengetahuan ke kepada sesama serta mengembangkan citra diri yang positif dan inovatif.
